1.- The opinion of other photographers is critical to you

2.- You think that you have to have an excellent camera

3.- You’re afraid to expose your true feelings in your photos to others

4.- You want to be like Adams or Cartier

5.-You think that the “Techniques Of Photography” is what makes a good photo

The opinion of other photographers is critical to you

Each photographer has a different way of seeing things, there are no standards, there are some photographers that insist in creating standards so every photographer would take photos withi those standards so all photos look the same, but all the photographers that have gone out of the standards have done it by not doing what the crowd is doing but by doing what they like.

You think that you have to have an excellent camera

Thousands of photographers with money have bought cameras worth thousands of dollars just to take photos just like they used to take with their old cameras, so what’s the use of buying very expensive cameras if your photos have not improved with the purchase of the expensive camera?

You’re afraid to expose your true feelings in your photos to others

Your best photos are not going to look like anybody else’s photos, because you are going to follow your own path, or your own feelings, if rocks are your fascination then take photos of rocks, but be creative.

You want to be like Adams or Cartier

Don’t copy their style, copy their way of being, they were not afraid to follow their own path, to be unique and different, that’s what you should follow.

You think that the “Techniques Of Photography” is what makes a good photo

Your vision is 90% of the photo, the technique is 10%.
Become an expert in seeing, in identifying a good or interesting scene, then apply the techniques, and that is if you still have the time, if you don’t have the time and your scene is about to dissipate then forget about the techniques just take the photo.
